Movers for America Applauds Decision of Secretary of War Hegseth, PCS Joint Task Force to Retain and Strengthen DP3

The PCS Joint Task Force announced that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth approved its recommendation to continue the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) for at least three years. The plan includes modernizing DP3 with a government-controlled software system and completing a market study to ensure tender of service rates are fair and reasonable.

Movers for America Executive Director Katie McMichael issued the following statement:

“We commend Secretary Hegseth and the PCS Joint Task Force for listening to military moving professionals about how to strengthen and modernize the PCS system. Keeping and improving the existing Defense Personal Property Program restores stability and trust for military families and moving professionals alike — while allowing flexibility to build on that foundation through innovation and accountability.”

“We look forward to continued collaboration with the Department of War, Congress, and military families to strengthen and improve military moving services. Together, we can deliver customer-focused innovations built on transparency, accountability, and a shared commitment to providing the highest quality, most efficient relocations possible.”

In May, Secretary Hegseth directed the creation of a PCS Task Force to develop solutions amid the failed Global Household Goods Contract rollout, ultimately terminating the contract.
