NDAA Advances Through House
We’re seeing progress on the annual Defense spending bill that funds the Department of Defense and establishes military policies and priorities for the coming fiscal year – including PCS.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed its version of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), authorizing approximately $1.15 trillion in national defense spending.
The Senate must pass its own version of the NDAA, and then the two chambers will negotiate a final compromise bill that must be approved by both the House and Senate before being sent to the President for signature.
Given the significant differences between the House and Senate approaches, additional negotiations are expected before a final FY2027 NDAA is enacted.
As a reminder, Movers For America is actively working with members of the U.S. Senate to secure an amendment to the Senate’s Fiscal Year 2027 NDAA that would allow Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) Transportation Service Providers (TSPs) to apply for the proposed Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) grant program. As currently drafted, the grant program would only reimburse companies undergoing a Level 2 third-party (C3PAO) assessment, inadvertently excluding military moving companies that are required to achieve Level 2 self-certification. MFA is advocating for a simple fix that would make TSPs eligible for the same grant funding.

Just six Democrats supported the annual National Defense Authorization Act, which House Republicans muscled through in a tight 216-212 vote.
