Peak Season Coming Soon
Peak Season 2026 is right around the corner, and with global conflicts creating some uncertainty around fuel costs, logistics, and base security, there’s a lot on movers’ minds heading into the summer.
MFA has been on the Hill meeting with members of Congress and key staff to make sure decision-makers understand what that means for moving professionals and the military families we serve, and to advance our 2026 priorities with all of that as a backdrop. The good news is that the PPA’s new leadership has been genuinely responsive (additional pass-through funding, weekly fuel surcharge adjustments), and we’re committed to keeping that momentum going.
Experiencing base access delays? As shipment volumes increase, some crews are already feeling the effects of tightened security measures. If that’s happening to your team, reach out to Katie at [email protected]. The sooner we can flag it with the right officials, the faster it gets addressed.
REMINDER: The PPA is holding an in-person meeting on April 23rd. Spots are limited to 2 per company, so get registered if you’re planning to go. Katie will be there and would love to catch up in person. It’s a good opportunity to hear directly from the PPA and share your insights heading into the summer.
MFA Ambassador Network: We’re close to announcing our first group of MFA Ambassadors! Katie has had some great conversations with experienced professionals who want to help MFA grow, and this network is going to be a real resource for our membership.
There’s uncertainty out there, no question. But a fully DP3 summer, a PPA that’s engaged and interested in working alongside industry, and MFA support that keeps growing is promising heading into Peak Season 2026.
We’re glad you’re part of it!
MOLD Act Support– Mold in shipments remains a persistent challenge for moving and storage companies handling household goods. Even a single microscopic spore on a piece of furniture can quickly spread, contaminating an entire storage unit and putting property and health at risk.
MFA is proud to support the MOLD Act, legislation designed to strengthen mold detection and prevention in base housing. If enacted, the bill would:
- Establish standardized requirements for acceptable humidity levels
- Require third-party inspections during tenant turnover and in response to complaints
- Create a 24/7 complaint hotline and online reporting system for hazards
- Enforce penalties for noncompliance, including withholding landlord bonuses and refunding a tenant’s Basic Allowance for Housing
- Establish a dedicated Pentagon oversight office
Together, these measures represent an important step toward protecting service members, their families, and their belongings from the harmful effects of mold.
