Short Fuse, Big Issues
As the GHC rollout continues, we’re seeing a notable rise in Short Fuse Shipments for the DP3 system, far exceeding previous years (Approx. 668 Short Fuse shipments from January 1 – 8 alone!). This spike raises key questions: Does the GHC lack the capacity it claims, or is it selectively prioritizing shipments to suit its limited capabilities?
Under DP3, TRANSCOM assigns moves to top-ranked, high-value moving professionals. Short Fuse shipments, however, bypass this system, going to any company with availability — often lower-ranked and costlier providers. This leads to higher government expenses and lower-quality service for military families.
Another concern: frustrated customers transitioning from GHC to DP3 often express their dissatisfaction in Customer Satisfaction Surveys, unfairly penalizing the DP3 carriers stepping in to help. Meanwhile, the GHC Prime Contractor escapes accountability for the failed move.
The reality is clear: GHC is already leaning on DP3 as a safety net. What happens if that safety net disappears?

PETITION: Military Families Shortchanged on Self-Move Rates
Military families are receiving over 40% less reimbursement for Personally Procured Moves (PPM) under the new Global Household Goods Contract (GHC). A petition rightfully asks how military families can afford PPMs with such drastically reduced rates.
Army veteran and military spouse Megan Harless’ petition highlights how lower GHC rates for moving companies have resulted in reduced compensation for servicemembers relocating to new assignments. Members shouldn’t have to pay money out of their own pocket to get the move that is best for them. As predicted, the GHC is proving to be a disservice to military families.
Anyone who suppors fair reimbursement for our service members and families for their relocation can sign the petition, even anonymously.
